I have imagined you
Soft and mysterious as a cat's purr
Conjuring the eternal hum
Of the deep and nearly silent forest
Your heartbeat constant as the energy pulse
That throbs from the centre of an ancient crystal -
Infinite emanation in cat's-eye glow

I have imagined you in silent conversation
With a flower
Discussing the colour of God's tears
At peace with the seasons
And the music of the wind and tides

I have imagined you,
Arms curled like branches
'Round my wild bird soul
Your touch a brushstroke of green and gold
Your spirit liquid in fire dance
Boneless as the wandering river ...

And I have imagined your love
As a gentle mist
Rising from an emerald waterfall
Softening the harsh black outlines
Of ice and rock
Cocooning in silk
The tired poet
Who slips into the next and final dream
Somehow forgiven ...
